As described in its member magazine "The Columbia" (Click here), .... the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's fraternal benefit society that was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works.
The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being investigated by the Vatican. On May 27,2020, Pope Francis announced that Father McGivney had been approved for beatification which happened on October 31,2020 which means that he can be declared "Blessed", the step prior to sainthood. On March 29, 1882, while an assistant pastor at Saint Mary's Church in New Haven , Connecticut, Father McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus which has become the worlds' foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 12,000 councils and 1.6 million members throughout the world.
The Council of Christ the King Parish was formed April 24, 2000. The Council currently has over 50 men who are members. However, we would like more...many more...to join us in our efforts to 'give back" to the Parish and to others. During the past few years, our parish Council has done a significant amount of work. Some examples of the good work of the Parish Knights have been able to accomplish during the past few years include:
Community Service
Parish Contribution/Activities
Fund Raisers
The Knights of Columbus Council of Christ the King Parish provides services to our parish and parishioners. We always welcome new members. If you have never been a member of the Knights or were a member of another Council and are interested in joining us, we would like to hear from you.
