The St. Cecilia tapestry was installed in the renovated choir area in 1986. CTK committee member and head of Aia Architects (Greenfield, MA), Pierre A. Belhumeur, lead the renovation project and worked to approve the tapestry.
Liturgical music is an essential element of community worship, and fosters full participation in parish liturgies. Christ the King had an enormous outpouring of support throughout its musical history. All of the parish’s music directors possessed a wealth of knowledge and determination to develop and maintain a rock-solid program to enrich its many Liturgies. The result of their tireless efforts is a rich musical heritage and an impressive music ministry that continues today. Christ the King’s music ministry is comprised of the Festival Choir, Youth Choir, the Folk Group and the Cantor Ministry.
The Festival Choir was formed and developed by Thomas Holland. The Festival choir is Christ the King’s oldest and most versatile music group. Thus, they have a long tradition of high-quality musical expression in support of liturgical worship. The Festival Choir explores a diversity of musical forms from chant to twentieth century liturgical compositions.
The Folk Group was formed by Dennis Ferrante in the early 2000’s. The Folk Group carries on the tradition of making our worship accessible to every age and taste. As an ensemble, they draw on both new and traditional Folk music.
The Cantor Ministry is Christ the King’s newest music program formed by Dennis Ferrante in the mid 2000’s. The Cantor’s role in the Liturgy is to lead and support the congregation in singing. The Cantor Ministry is comprised of dedicated singers from the Festival Choir and Youth Choir Alumni.
